Kanyakumari: Wonderful and Unique Beauty

  Kanyakumari should be called a wonderful and unique model of natural beauty. Kanyakumari is a spectacular tourist destination situated at the wonderful confluence of the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. 

   Kanyakumari is a wonderful city located on the southern coast of Tamil Nadu, India. Kanyakumari, a wonderful confluence of art, culture and civilization is the most visible city in the south of India. It is considered the crown of tourism of India. Kanyakumari is a favorite of global tourists due to its uniqueness. 
   Nestled amidst the vast beaches and grand waves of the sea, the unique shade of Kanyakumari enchants the tourists. The sunset and sunrise of Kanyakumari is very visible. The colorful sand of the beaches adds to the beauty of Kanyakumari. There is also a mythological story about this city of South India being named Kanyakumari.
  It is believed that in ancient times there was a dynasty of eight daughters and one son of King Bharata. King Bharata divided all the daughters and sons of the empire as appropriate. Kumari, the daughter of King Bharata, got this place in South India. 
  Kumari was considered an incarnation of power. Kumari, the incarnation of Shakti, wished to marry Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was pleased with the worship. Not only this, Lord Shiva agreed to marry Kumari. 
   It is believed that Kumari and Shiva could not get married due to Narada Muni's intervention. Narada wanted the demon king Banasura to be slaughtered by Kumari. Eventually Banasura was slaughtered by Kumari. This place of South India is known as Kanyakumari in memory of Kumari. 
   This city of South India is very scenic due to its natural beauty. There is a long chain of sightseeing places in Kanyakumari. Among them are Kanyakumari Amman Temple, Gandhi Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Temple, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Suchindram, Nagaraja Temple, Padmanabhapuram Palace, Korattalam Falls and Tiruchendur and Udayagiri Fort etc.
   Kanyakumari Amman Temple: Kanyakumari Amman Temple is a small but magnificent temple situated at the mouth of Sagar. This temple is virtually dedicated to Parvati Devi. The temple is located at the confluence of the sea. 
  Situated at the confluence of the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, this temple is very visible. Nature's unique shade mesmerises. Like any melodious music of the waves of the ocean, the tourists swell. Devotees enter the temple after bathing in this Triveni.
   Gandhi Memorial: Gandhi Memorial is dedicated to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is believed that the ashes of the pyre of Mahatma Gandhi are kept in this memorial. This monument was established in 1956. Mahatma Gandhi came here in 1937. 
   After the death of Mahatma Gandhi, his ashes were immersed in Kanyakumari in 1948. The memorial has been designed in a wonderful way. Due to which Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, the first rays of the sun fall on that place.
  Thiruvalluvar: Thiruvalluvar idol attracts a lot of tourists. The 133 feet high statue is very visible. 1283 pieces of stone were used in the composition of this magnificent statue of experts.
   Vivekananda Rock Memorial: The establishment of Vivekananda Rock Memorial was structured in honor of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda had meditated on this magnificent divine structure site located on the beach. 
  This place is also known as Shreepad Parai. Ancient belief that Kanyakumari also did penance at this place. Here the footprints of Kanyakumari are inscribed. This monument holds global fame.
   Suchindram: Suchindram is actually a small village in Kanyakumari. Located about 12 km from Kanyakumari, this village is famous for Thanumalayan temple. 
  The idol of Hanuman Ji installed in the temple is very attractive. The statue of Hanuman ji, about 6 meters high, has its own charm. In the main sanctum sanctorum of the temple, divine grand statues of Brahma, Mahesh and Vishnu are enshrined.
  Nagaraja Temple: The Nagaraja Temple is located about 20 km from Kanyakumari. The Nagaraja temple is dedicated to Nagdev. There are also two other temples of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The main gate of this temple reflects the architecture of the Buddha Vihara of China.
   Korattalam Waterfall: Korattalam Falls is an ideal picnic spot. This scenic waterfall falling from a height of about 167 meters has a different beauty of its own. 
  The water of this waterfall is considered to have medicinal properties. Located about 137 km from Kanyakumari, this waterfall is a center of special attraction for tourists.
  All the necessary resources are available for the trip to Kanyakumari. The nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The distance from the airport to Kanyakumari is about 90 kilometers. The nearest railway station is Kanyakumari Junction. Tourists can also visit Kanyakumari by road.
